BY GET YOUR GUN
RELEASED: 02 / 06 / 2012
Danish rock band GetYourGun is ready with their debut EP carrying the simple title “EP”.
The band consist of brothers Andreas (vocals, guitar) and Simon Westmark (drums) who created the band together with Søren Nørgaard in 2008. The Danish trio from the countryside in the Northern parts of Denmark play uncompromising, heavy and bleak rock music. Some call it wasteland noise rock, others call it dark americana, but the truth may be something different, or something in between. But the four songs on the EP all have this in common: they contain mood images that circle around the loner and the related melancholy and detained loneliness. If you combine this with raw energy and repeated musical ferocity you paint a picture of this young trio’s dark sound.
The first 3 songs of the EP; Staying for a While, Tallest Trees and Death Rattle have been recorded at Studie 73 in Copenhagen. They were recorded in collaboration with Lei Gellett who were also in charge of the mixing and mastering of the songs. Furthermore, the EP contains the bonus track ‘Ghost of Scandinavia’ which is a b-side from GetYourGun’s first 7″ single. This single was released in May last year and gave the band publicity along with airplay on P6 Beat, a radio program that deemed GetYourGun one of the top 10 most interesting new Danish acts. The first song on the EP “Staying for a While” have been a part of the rotation on P6 Beat since December 2011. Like the band’s previous 7″ single release, the EP is also going to be released on Empty Tape, a recordy company situated in Aalborg, DK. Moreover, the EP is not only going to be released physically, it will also be available digitally (Itunes, Spotify, etc.)
